Brand New Day Trailer Shatters All Records, Becomes First in History to Hit 1 Billion Views

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has etched its name in cinematic history after its trailer became the first movie trailer ever to surpass one billion views. Released on March 17, the milestone was reached within just four days of the trailer going live, signaling an extraordinary level of global anticipation for the film. The achievement places it far ahead of any other promotional video in Hollywood history.

Before Brand New Day arrived, the record for the most-viewed trailer in 24 hours was held by Deadpool & Wolverine, which amassed 365 million views following its Super Bowl debut in February 2024. That had narrowly beaten Spider-Man: No Way Home’s trailer, which collected 355.5 million views in its first day. Brand New Day obliterated both benchmarks, pulling in a staggering 718.6 million views within 24 hours.

According to data from WaveMetrix, the total view count had climbed to 1.1 billion by Tuesday, confirming the historic feat. The trailer even surpassed Grand Theft Auto VI’s 475 million first-day record, showing the Spider-Man franchise’s unmatched global pull. No movie, game, or entertainment trailer had ever crossed the billion-view mark before this.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on July 31 and serves as a direct follow-up to No Way Home, which grossed $1.9 billion worldwide in 2021. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the movie stars Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Indian audiences will enjoy the film across six languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Fans online have already been buzzing, coining affectionate alternate titles like “Spider-Man: Far from Okay” and “Spider-Man: Broke, Depressed, Alone, Heartbroken.” The trailer depicts Peter Parker in a world where everyone — including MJ and Ned — has forgotten who he is, adding deep emotional stakes to the story. As the fourth MCU Spider-Man film under Phase Six, Brand New Day looks poised to rewrite box office history just as it has trailer history.
