Ireland’s rugby team has announced six changes to their starting lineup for the upcoming rematch against Japan in Cork on Saturday, following their 31-24 victory in Galway last Sunday. This match will see Jane Clohessy and Niamh Gallagher making their first starts for the national team, while Sophie Barrett, Kate Jordan, and Alana McInerney are poised to make their international debuts from the bench.
The forward pack sees the return of Linda Djougang at loosehead prop, joining Neve Jones and Eilís Cahill. Jane Clohessy will start at lock alongside Fiona Tuite-O’Sullivan. In the backs, Emily Lane is set to return at scrum-half, partnering with Dannah O’Brien.
Further changes in the backline include Aoife Dalton rejoining the center to play alongside Anna McGann, while Robyn O’Connor takes her place on the left wing. Niamh Gallagher will shift to the full-back position, with Beibhinn Parsons maintaining her spot on the right wing.
The team’s back row remains consistent, with captain Erin King, Brittany Hogan, and Jemima Adams Verling continuing their roles from the previous match. These alterations aim to build on the momentum from last week’s win as Ireland prepares to face Japan again in Cork.
